kEvent Details

Crescendo in collaboration with the Norman Rockwell Museum and the Berkshire Children's Chorus presents the world premiere of a multimedia work by Berkshire-based composer John Myers at the new Saint James Place in Great Barrington (April 1 at 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM) and at Mattison Hall, Kent School (April 2 at 4:00 PM).

Myers’ work, "Paintings in Song: Visions of Norman Rockwell," features choruses, instrumentalists and graphic animation. It celebrates Norman Rockwell's timeless images in a musical setting, highlighting the continued relevance of the cultural values represented in nine of his paintings--including the iconic Four Freedoms.

Also featured are selections of traditional American songs arranged by Alice Parker and Robert Shaw and compositions by William Billings, Dave Brubeck and Jonny Priano. Performers are the Crescendo Chorus, Berkshire Children's Chorus and an ensemble of jazz and classical musicians.

Tickets can be purchased at worldclassmusic.org or at the door. $30/$50/$10 under 18. There will be a pre-concert talk and panel discussion on March 18, 5:30pm at the Norman Rockwell Museum (nrm.org/events/). For more information: worldclassmusic.org.
