ABOUT | The Kent Singers
A small auditioned group of amateur singers, have been bringing high quality choral performances to the Kent community for 37 years. The programs Kent Singers develops include early music, baroque, classical and modern works. The program on May 1, 2010, for example, included "Cantate Domino" by Buxtehude and works by Palestrina, Michael Haydn, and a contemporary Vermont composer, Don Jamison. In other performances the group has performed works by Vivaldi, Brahms, Dvorak and Randall Thompson, to name a few. Traditional Christmas concerts often include Bach and other favorites.

The next performance will be on Saturday, June 5, at 8:00 p.m., at the Jewish Community Center in Sherman. The concert, entitled "How Can We Keep from Singing," celebrates the joy of singing, for listeners as well as singers. The totally a capella program will include secular choral music from early to contemporary.  Light refreshments will be served at intermission. 

Tickets are $15 for JCCS Members; $20 for nonmembers.   Prepaid reservations are requested.

Openings are available in all parts, from bass to soprano for the fall season. The group rehearses on Wednesday evenings 7 PM - 9 PM
