The dog days of August? Not in Kent!  If your idea of fun is great sales, fabulous food, toe-tapping tunes and jaw-dropping vintage cars, Kent is the place to be the first weekend of August.

Up and down Main Street, into the Kent Green and the Kent Barns, you will find extraordinary sales on the fine goods Kent merchants offer. There will be real deals at Sundog Shoe & Leather, Foreign Cargo, Chic Boutique, Terston Home Accents & Apparel, Koblenz & Co. Antique & Estate Jewelry, Main Street Antiques, the Covered Wagon Country Store, Bella Jewelers, Rolling River Antiques, Pantages Gems & Jewelry, Fife 'n Drum Gift Shop, and Heron American Craft Gallery. Don't miss NAPA Auto's specials and savings on discounted tools and a local race car showcase on Saturday. The Painted Can will not only have a Super Sale but will offer discounted Chalk Paint® 101 Workshops on Saturday & Sunday. The Kent Memorial Library will hold their fabulous Annual Book Sale as well as selling raffle tickets for a 1998 Porsche Boxster.

St. Andrews Church's has their annual tag sale on Friday and Saturday with Early Bird Purchasing from 8:30 to 10 AM on Friday for a $10 entry charge. The Sherman Chapter of the DAR will hold a tag sale on the St. Andrew's lawn as well. The Kent Quilters' handmade quilt sale will raise funds for the Kent Veterans Memorial Committee. The Kent Volunteer Fire Department will offer firetruck rides on Saturday from 11 AM to 2 PM (pick up at 17 Kent Green Blvd).

Face painting for all ages by Alicia Coffin will take place at the Fife 'n Drum Gift Shop on Saturday. All proceeds will benefit the CT Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. Celebrate National Clown Day on Saturday at 10:30 AM at the Kent Memorial Library. Club Getaway will have Carnival Games for the kids on Saturday!

Annie Bananie Ice Cream will have Caricatures by Emily, Henna by Elyse, Fascia's Chocolates Sweet 'n Salty Tasting & raffle, Charms of the Heart, and their infamous "Cheeseburgers in Paradise" where the burgers are free and parrothead costumes are encouraged. Sakura Blade & Tool Sharpening will be there all days of the festival. Drop off your knives, blades or tools ahead of time or stop by.

Kent Yoga & Bodyworks will offer a "New Student Special" big savings of $10 per class on Friday and Saturday morning.  W. Rhythm Fitness & Wellness will have demo classes with a mix of Barre & Pilates Friday through Sunday during the festival from Noon to 12:30 PM in the courtyard of the Kent Town Center.

Art aficionados won't want to miss Kent's art galleries! Stroll the exhibits at W. David Herman Gallery, Eckert Fine Art, the Kent Art Association, James Barron Art, the Kent Memorial Library and the Morrison Gallery.

The 7th Annual Kent Car Cruise Night, sponsored by the Kent Green and the Fife 'n Drum Restaurant takes place on Saturday at the Kent Green Shopping Center. The show runs from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This fun event is free for all spectators and participants. Clubs are welcome. Great for families, this popular Kent car show features a judged competition for best of show across several automotive categories, door prizes, open pit barbecue by the Fife 'n Drum Restaurant, a drawing to benefit local charities with plenty of parking and green lawns. Rain or shine.

When hunger strikes, stop by the Fife 'n Drum Restaurant for their lunch and dinner specials or try one of their $5 margaritas or draft beers. Annie Bananie Ice Cream will feature Dave's Dog House, breakfast sandwiches, burgers & hot dogs. Additional culinary delights will be offered by Panini Café, J.P. Gifford Market & Catering, Bulls Bridge Inn, the Villager Restaurant, Gifford's Restaurant, Kent Pizza Garden and Shanghai Chinese Restaurant. SoDelicious HomeMade Bakery will be open to entice you with wonderful baked goods and coffee. Bees Knees Ice Pops will be on sale in front of Terston's in the Kent Town Center. The Davis IGA will hold a Lobster Fest (live lobsters, not cooked) during the festival. Be sure to place your order by 3 PM on Thursday 8/3 for pick up on Friday or Saturday.

Many of Kent's non-profit organizations will have booths on the Golden Falcon Lot on Main Street with information about their activities. Stop by, learn more and get involved! The Sacred Heart Church group will hold their annual craft sale on the lot as well.

Kent Park & Rec's Free Summer Concerts will hold the final concert on Thursday with The Joint Chiefs performing on the lawn in front of the Kent Town Hall on the Kent Green. Heather & Tobias will provide music on the Kent Station Pharmacy porch on Saturday!

Not all events take place all hours each day, but there will be fun for all four days! Parking is available on the street and on the Kent Green property.
